Odisha squandered solid batting performance to go down to Tripura by five wickets in their last league match of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy East Zone U-19 Tournament at Guwahati today. With this defeat, their third in four matches, Odisha`s campaign culminated in the zonal tournament. Odisha earlier lost to Bengal and Jharkhand by 29 and 19 runs respectively.
Electing to bat, Odisha mustered 272 for five in the stipulated 50 overs. Opening batsman Subhrajoyti Mishra missed a century by eight runs, while Arya Debasis Bhatta scored a half-century. Mishra`s 123-ball 92 was studded with nine hits to rope and one over it.
Chasing a stiff target of 273, Tripura rode on a whirlwind knock of 140 by U Bose and his 129-run partnership for the unfinished sixth wicket with N Saha to romp home with 2.4 overs to spare. Bose hit 13 sixes and two fours in his majestic knock, which came off 122 balls.
